IT'S
THANKSGIVING
BREAK!

What can you do?

If your child is on grade-level, occasionally review what we have learned this quarter...and READ!

If your child is struggling in one or more areas, this is their time to close the gap!

WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!

First grade is a BIG year! Between all the learning and the crafting and the playing and the singing and the running and the laughing, we can promise you that you WILL dream big this year and you WILL fly high! Nothing is going to stop you in these classrooms from being the absolutely best that you can be.

Parents, pages 22-33 in the link below will show you all that we will learn this year. It's a lot...but have no fear, you're child will rise to the occasion and they will SOAR!

CLASSROOM WISHLIST

Students aren't the only ones with wishes. I can promise you that I will make sure that my students have everything they NEED to learn this year. But, sometimes, there are additional things that could make the classroom even better that I do not have the budget for.

This list is every changing with items being added and deleted as necessary. If an item is bought off this list I can promise you that every child will benefit from it this year...and possibly years to come!

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

MYSTERY READERS

I want to give anyone a chance to read to the class that wants to so there is no scheduled days for this. However, the time is always before lunch from 11:15-11:30. If you are our Mystery Reader, I'll ask for three clues about you to get the students guessing. You may bring a book or I can provide one for you.

INTERIOR CLASROOM DESIGNER

It's not as glamorous as the name may sound but I'm looking for anyone that can take an idea and run with it. We have many special days here at school that I love to decorate the class room for. Sometimes it means going all out. Sometimes it's as simple as putting some desks together and covering them in paper. But time is limited in the afternoons (and sometimes another creative brain is needed). If you are able to help transform our room every once in a while, this job is for you!

JACK OF ALL TRADES

I didn't know what to call this. But if you can cut, glue, color, laminate, sort, and follow written directions then this is for you! This opportunity can be done at anytime. Sometimes it can even be sent home and returned in your child's book bag.

STUDENT READER

I am always looking for adults to come and read one-on-one with students. This may also include playing a phonics game or doing a written activity with a child individually. This will always take place during our reading block. Adults who can sign up for the same day each week are very beneficial!

PAPER SORTER

Abeka has a loooooot of paper! Sorting these papers ahead of time is both beneficial and saves the sanity of the teacher. A small block of time, some good fingers, and the ability to follow are pattern are all that are required. A good playlist or podcast are optional.

I HAVE AN IDEA!

We are working TOGETHER. If you have an idea you'd like to share with me, send it my way. I will look into it or we can talk it over together.

I want to help!
